Scotland By A Native People tend to think Scotland a miserable and somewhat cold 'n' wet place. They would be right! At least some of the time anyway! However, it gets very hot in the summer these days (global warming?) but one thing I have noticed - lots of the people ARE miserable and cold 'n' (occasionally at least) wet! I'm from a town called Dumfries which is pretty near to the city of Glasgow, all the streets I've seen in Scotland are filthy, the streets aren't very safe at night (or during the day in some places!) and the current climate in Britain as a whole is pretty disquieting. Having said that, some of Scotland is absolutely lovely (St Andrews for instance) and Dumfries was once a nice town before the somewhat sleazy and very incompetent folk in charge kept on getting very enthusiastic about their next hairbrained schemes to scare off... attract tourists to the area. Glasgow's an interesting city and full of weird and wonderful people but the accent is pretty hideous there. Hope this is of some use to somebody out there!
